Dubinskyi insists that the construction of the metro to Troyeschyna and Vynogradar must become a national project

MP Aleksandr Dubinskyi asked President Vladimir Zelensky to include the metro construction to Troieschina and Vinogradar in Kyiv in the national Big Construction program. The suggested initiative was sent to the President’s Office.

Dubinskyi notes the importance of the emergence of an underground mode of transport in two large metropolitan areas. If this does not happen in the near future, Kyiv risks being brought to a standstill as a result of the deplorable traffic congestion.

However, the Kyiv city administration continuously fails to recognize the seriousness of this problem and endlessly postpones its solution for various reasons:

• the complexity of the project development;

• the need to create a historical and architectural plan agreed with UNESCO;

• the absence of funding;

• difficulties in attracting investors.

In the meanwhile, Aleksandr Dubinskyi believes that the real reason is the lack of political will from the Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

“The current government of Kyiv does not have a clear and systemic transport policy aimed at developing and solving the urgent needs of the city. It will lead to a real collapse,” he is convinced.

The deputy is concerned that in such a challenging situation, Kyiv can be saved from the transport collapse only by the inclusion of metro development projects to Troeshchina and Vinogradar into the national infrastructure program “Big Construction”.
